UPDATE: Dennis Lane's Memorial to Take Place June 4

Lane's family decided not to have a public funeral, but a public memorial is scheduled.

Update - 4:50 p.m. - This article was updated to include specific information about the memorial being held for Dennis Lane.

Almost two weeks have passed since local blogger and real estate agent Dennis Lane was killed inside his Ellicott City home.

On the Facebook Page of the podcast Lane hosted with Paul Skalny, a note was posted that said no public funeral for Lane would take place, but instead his family would have a small private service.

In an email, Tom Coale, Lane's friend and fellow blogger, said Lane's funeral has already taken place and that a public memorial will take place on June 4.

The memorial is scheduled to begin with a social at 2 p.m. at Merriweather Post Pavilion and a program will start at 3 p.m. Family and friends ask that those who attend wear red, in honor of a red scarf frequently worn by Lane.

In addition, contributions will be accepted for the Dennis Lane Memorial Fund. Those interested in donating can make checks out to the "Community Foundaiton of Howard County" with "Dennis Lane Memorial Fund" in the memo section of the check. You can also donate online at www.cfhoco.org.

Lane was stabbed to death inside his Ellicott City home in the early morning of May 10, according to police. Lane's 14-year-old daughter, Morgan Arnold, and her 19-year-old boyfriend, Jason Bulmer, were charged in the killing. Both are being held without bond.
