19 Columbia Residents Registered for Boston Marathon
The following Columbians were registered for the Boston Marathon, where two bombs exploded at the finish line Monday afternoon.
The following Columbia residents were runners in Monday's Boston Marathon, according to the Marathon's website.
Around 2:45 p.m. two bombs exploded near the finish line, according to multiple news reports. CNN is reporting at least 3 people were killed and over 100 injured in the explosions.

Update - 4:48 p.m. - Amanda Loudin, communications chair for the Howard County Striders, tweeted that the approximately 15 runners from the team who were competing in the Boston Marathon, "seem to be accounted for and fine/together."
Update - 5:59 p.m. - Howard County Striders President Bill Arbelaez sent the following email update to Patch, "To the best of my knowledge, The Striders had possibly more than twenty runners up in Boston today, plus many additional family members. I personally know of 11 or 12 friends who had either finished, or were still on the course, and all have checked in and are safe. Others who ran have not touched base yet, but I'm presuming the best."

Update - 7:39 p.m. - From Howard County Police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn - "We are monitoring the situation and evaluating any impact on Howard County. Our commanders have been in touch with the county executive, emergency management and our personnel assigned to JTTF [Joint Terrorism Task Force] and MCAC [Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center]. We recently trained and reviewed emergency protocols with our staff. We'll be taking a look at upcoming events. As always, we encourage residents,"If you see something, say something."
