Weather Alert: Slow-Moving Storms to Soak Maryland

Storms may be accompanied by rapid rainfall, National Weather Service reports.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for much of Maryland and parts of northern Virginia on Thursday.

Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Charles, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties as well as Baltimore City are under the flash flood watch until midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

A flash flood watch means conditions that lead to flash flooding may develop.

Slow-moving storms with rain falling at a rate of more than 2 inches per hour will move through the region Thursday evening, the weather service reported.

Some thunderstorms may have damaging wind gusts and large hail, according to the weather service.
