Orionids Meteor Shower: A Complete Guide

The Orionids meteor shower peaks on Monday, but will we be able to see it?

By Jamie Cura

If you're looking forward to the Orionids meteor shower this October, here's what you need to know.

The moon is supposed to be very bright on Monday, Oct. 21, so we may not be able to see many meteors, save for the brightest of the lot, according to the EarthSky website.

The peak time for the Orionids meteor shower is on October 21 before dawn. So if you find yourself up late or awake early, you can certainly bundle up and trot outside for a look, but know that the moon is on a mission that night and you may not see many meteors!

On Sunday, Oct. 20, between midnight and dawn, the meteors will also be a-falling but the bright moon will still make for a touch-and-go show.
