Merriweather Post Pavilion was overflowing Sept. 21, when 50,000 people spent a day at Virgin Mobile FreeFest, listening to popular performers on the pavilion stage and several temporary stages in the woods. In the afternoon heavy rains swept the area but failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the often dancing crowd.
In July, Merriweather was named the fourth best amphitheater in the country by Rolling Stone magazine. This is the 5th year the picturesque pavilion in Columbia’s Symphony Woods has hosted Virgin Mobile FreeFest.
