Columbia, Md. – TriColumbia, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier non-profit, endurance event production company, is excited to announce it will open registration for two of its Iron Girl endurance events, the Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon and the Iron Girl Rocky Gap Triathlon, on Tuesday, January 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. More than 5,000 women of all ages and endurance abilities will participate in the events aimed to empower, inspire and celebrate women. The Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon will take place on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Centennial Park in Columbia, Md., followed by the Iron Girl Rocky Gap Triathlon on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, Md.

The Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon, named “The Best Women’s Event in the Mid-Atlantic” by Competitor Magazine in 2011, is celebrating its 9th year in 2014. It is the most popular and largest Iron Girl event in the country, consisting of a 0.62 mile swim, 16 mile bike and 3.4 mile run at Centennial Lake Park in Columbia, Md. on portions of the famed Columbia Triathlon. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in the Aquabike, a 0.62 mile swim in Centennial Lake, followed by a 16 mile bike through Centennial Lake Park. For more information and to register, visit http://www.tricolumbia.org/events/?eid=6.

The 3rd annual Iron Girl Rocky Gap Triathlon will offer a 0.50 mile swim in the pristine Lake Habeeb, followed by a 16 mile bike and 2.5 mile run throughout scenic Rocky Gap State Park. This year’s race will also offer endurance athletes the opportunity to compete in the Aquabike, a 0.50 mile swim in Lake Habeeb, followed by a 16 mile bike through Rocky Gap State Park. This race will benefit the Cumberland YMCA, which serves human needs in Allegany County and the Tri-State region through programs and services that promote lifelong personal growth and the balanced development of spirit, mind and body. Registration opens in conjunction with the Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon. For more information and to register, visit http://www.tricolumbia.org/events/?eid=14.

The Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon and the Iron Girl Rocky Triathlon, in addition to the Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon, make up the Iron Girl Triple Crown Series. The Triple Crown Series, created and hosted by TriColumbia, gives female endurance athletes the unique opportunity to challenge themselves to participate in all three Iron Girl events to earn the coveted title of “Iron Girl Triple Crown Finisher.” In 2013, more than 300 women accomplished this feat. Registration for the Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon, scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27, 2014, is now open.
