Howard Huskies Hosting 23rd Annual Columbia Regional Silver Stick Youth Hockey Tournament

The Howard Huskies will host the upcoming 23rd annual Columbia Regional Silver Stick youth hockey tournament Friday, November 29 thru Sunday, December 1 at the Columbia Ice Rink and at several other local hockey arenas including Rockville, MD; Frederick, MD; Piney Orchard, MD and Laurel, MD.
This years tournament will attract over 125 teams from Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. Approximately 2,000 players along with over 6,000 parents, fans and spectators will converge on the arenas from 7 a.m. until late evening for 3 days.

The Columbia Regional Silver Stick is one of 18 American Regional Qualifying Tournaments and 26 Canadian Qualifying Tournaments. From those qualifying tournaments, champions are then sent on to compete in the International Silver Stick Finals held in both Michigan and Ontario, Canada. The tournaments began in the late 1950's in Canada and are storied in tradition. A long list of former and current NHL players have participated in the Silver Stick tournaments in their youth.
The philosophy of the Silver Stick organization remains the same and that is to promote “Citizenship and International Goodwill through Silver Stick hockey”.

About the Howard Huskies: The Howard County Youth Hockey Club (HCYHC), also known as the Howard Huskies, is a not for profit hockey club started in 1971. At that time, there were 45 players. Today, we have over 300 players. HCYHC provides both recreational and tier-II travel hockey ensuring there is a team for every player’s skill and commitment. Our Club’s emphasis is on sportsmanship, teamwork, and character - - three themes you will hear woven throughout your experience.
