Nine of DC-Baltimore area’s finest bands will stage a five-hour tribute concert marking the 55th anniversary of rock and roll legend Buddy Holly’s death in the Fateful Winter Dance party plane crash in Iowa.  The concert will at Blob’s Park on Feb. 1, 2014 at 8pm. The all-age show will include songs made famous Holly and his fellow tour stars Richie Valens and the Big Bopper, who also died in the crash.

Performers include local luminaries: David Kitchen, The Flea Bops, Billy Coulter, Honky Tonk Confidential, Ruthie and the Wranglers, Jelly Roll Mortals, Four Star Combo, Dede Wyland and Willie Barry.  British radio host and music writer Colin Davies (“Now Dig This”) will emcee the show.

Blob’s Park, known for its polka dances in the past, features a large wooden dance floor, plenty of seating and a huge selection of affordable German food and beer.


$15 tickets can be purchased in advance at  http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/551450 and admission will be $20 at the door.  A $15 German-style buffet opens at 6pm.
