Strawberries Starting to Avail Themselves!

Have you noticed how cool this season has been, that is, until our predicted three-day heat wave starting tomorrow?  The cool climate has had quite an effect on our local growing season which many connect with the beginning of the Howard County Farmers’ Markets.  Strawberries are one of the earliest fruits of the season and they usually are here in time to kick off the farmers’ markets. With this cool weather, strawberries have been scattered and thus far we’ve had just a small availability of locally grown strawberries at the farmers' markets. Within the next week strawberries will start to make a strong appearance at the Howard County Farmers’ Markets and will probably be at their peak in two-to-three weeks.  Yum . . . we bet you can already taste those locally-grown scrumptious strawberries you are about to buy at the Howard County Farmers’ Markets!
