Lot D Free; Think about a Raingarden: Daily 5

It's going to be a beautiful Thursday. That and more, five things for Thursday.

1. Weather >> Shaping up to be a beautiful day, with a high near 85. Possible fog before 10 a.m.

2. Around the Region >> More parking is on its way to Ellicott City's Main Street. The lower lot (Lot B) near the Patapsco River opens on Saturday after undergoing repairs for damage suffered in the train derailment in Aug. 2012. Also, lot D, the largest lot, is now completely free.

3. Condolences >> Condolences to the family of Baltimore County police officer Jason Schneider, who was killed in the line of duty serving a search warrant in Catonsville on Tuesday morning.

4. Post Your Event on Patch >> Our calendar is an easy to view resource to advertise your event for free. As long as you're logged in to a user account, you can post an event using this link.

5. Consider a Raingarden >> Columbia Association offers a program to help you pay for a rain garden. If you build one, you can have up to 75 percent of the cost paid for by CA via federal grant money. Check it out.
