The Columbia Association initiated in July, 2012 a 16 member working group to develop a 20 to 30 year "Comprehensive Plan for Serving the Older Adult Community". This is CA's response to the vast increase in Boomers deciding to Age in the Columbia community and the suggestion of the CA Senior Advisory Committee. (AARP has noted that 90% of Boomers are choosing to Age in Place and not move).
The three major components to be addressed in the Plan include; 1.) Document Existing conditions, 2.) Identify Needs and Best Practices, and 3.) Develp a Long Range plan. The working group will be aided by the Leadership Howard County Premier Group in the benchmarking phase. Open meetings are generally held on the fourth Wednsday of the month at 10 AM.
