Most all of our furry companions have and are shelter and/or puppy mill rescues. They are so veryRead More loving and puppy-like in their new lives. It's amazing how many people are so unaware of puppy mills, backyard breeders and how inhumane they are. In trying to spread the word, I give our puppy mill rescue Pom as an example. We came across her when she was approximately 8 years old. She was a three pound bone, terrified of everyone and everything. She had been in a cage for all of her years, forced to have litter after litter of pups. After three years in her new life she still circles, circles, circles, as that was all she could do in her tiny cage. She can't bark. We found that she had been 'devocalized'......and not surgically. I had heard of the practice of devocalization by means of crushing the voice box(?) using pipes, or other manual means. This little girl was a victim and the resulting complications will last her lifetime. Puppy mills are torture chambers operated by criminals and depraved people who have not regard for life.
