Columbia Association’s facilities and pathways closed, programs and meetings canceled for Monday and Tuesday

Columbia Association (CA) is closing all of its facilities, including CA Headquarters, at noon on Monday, Oct. 29, and for the entirety of Tuesday, Oct. 30, due to the continued safety concerns from Hurricane Sandy. In addition, all programs and meetings have been canceled.

Facilities are presently expected to reopen on Wednesday morning. CA will be reevaluating the situation and will announce Tuesday at noon whether any facilities will open earlier than that.

CA is also closing its 93.5-mile pathway system in order to protect residents from potentially dangerous conditions. CA’s emergency action plan is in effect for its dams at Lake Elkhorn, Wilde Lake and the Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club; staff are monitoring these dams and reporting their observations.

CA is continually monitoring the storm and is working closely with local and state officials. Residents can stay updated via the Inclement Weather Hotline at 410-715-3154 and/or can sign up for email and/or text message notifications via CA’s urgent notification system at columbiaassociation.org/notify.  Residents can also sign up for the County’s emergency notification system, NotifyMeHoward, at notifyme.howardcountymd.gov for local emergency information.
