Symphony of Lights opened its gates to the holiday season's first revelers on Nov. 17. The annual light display that has become a Howard County tradition will be open nightly for the rest of the year, until Jan. 6, 2013.

This is the 19th year Howard County General Hospital is hosting the lights, which doubles as a fundraiser for the hospital.

Symphony of Lights features 70 animated and stationary light displays that are viewable through nightly drives or on special events.

People interested in seeing the holiday display can drive through the woods between 6 and 10 p.m. nightly. The cost is $20 per car for the 20 to 30 minute drive.

In addition, the following special events have been scheduled:

• Group Walk Through the Lights
  Mondays & Wednesdays ONLY, November 26 - December 19 / 4:30 - 5:45 p.m. - A 1.4 mile stroll through the light display. Call 410-740-7840 for reservations. Cost is $10 per walker, children under 4 are free.
• Blinkin' Binkies
  Thursday, December 6 / 4:30 - 5:45 p.m. - Young children and strollers are encouraged to come out to this 1.4 mile walk through the lights. Cost is $10 per walker, children under 4 are free.
• Tail Lights
  Tuesday, December 11 / 4:30 - 5:45 p.m. - Dogs are invited to walk through the park (with their owners) during this special night at Symphony of Lights. Cost is $10 per walker, dogs and children under 4 are free.
• Midnight at 7
  Monday, December 31 / 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. - People are invited to walk through Symphony of Woods and then see Howard County's New Year's Eve fireworks. Cost is $15 per individual (before Dec. 13 and $20 after Dec. 13), children age 3 and under are free. Group rates are also available.
