Fox News and other outlets are reporting that former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum is suspending his presidential campaign.

CNN has reported that Santorum, who is trailing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in his home state of Pennsylvania, has canceled campaign events early this week while his 3-year-old daughter, who has the chromosomal condition known as Trisomy 18, is hospitalized.

Mitt Romney won the Republican primary in Maryland on April 3, beating Santorum, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich.

The Huffington Post reports that “Santorum's decision removes any lingering doubt that Romney will end up the Republican presidential nominee.”
