Police: Armored Truck Employee Robbed in Ellicott City
Authorities won't disclose how much thief stole.
An armored truck employee was robbed in Ellicott City this afternoon and Howard County police are asking the public for help finding the suspect.
According to police, a carrier with Dunbar Armored was returning to his truck with a deposit from the Giant grocery store at Dorsey's Search Village center when a man with a gun approached him.
The suspect robbed the carrier and left in a Nissan Sentra, according to police. Neither the carrier, nor another Dunbar employee, who stayed in the truck, was injured. Police say employees appeared to have followed robbery protocols.
The employees and several witnesses to the robbery called police and described the suspect and his car. The car was found in a nearby residential area, but police are still looking for the suspect. Witnesses described him as a black man in dark clothing, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a heavy build.
Police have not released the amount of money stolen because of the ongoing investigation. They are offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the suspect's identification and arrest.
