There is a student boom going on at Howard Community College, which, for the first-time in its history, exceeded 10,000 full-time credit students enrolled this fall.

College officials said they are responding to the boom with:

- More hybrid classes, which combine online learning with classroom learning.

- An expanded class schedule, with more sessions offered earlier in the morning and later in the day.

- An addition of 14 new faculty positions and five staff positions to support the areas of veteran affairs, retention services, technology, plant operations and public relations and marketing.

- A second parking garage, comprised of 723 spaces, has been added to the campus.
