The possible redistricting of Howard County Public Schools could separate students and communities.
Thomas Williams stands in his yard, where the possible boundary line between Atholton and Guilford Elementary Schools sits on the fence between properties at Carriage Hills Drive and Sandrope Court, in the Dickinson community of Columbia. By coincidence, his mother lives on Sandrope Court and his father lives on Carriage Hills Drive, so he will have the choice of attending school with his neighbors, pictured in the background.

It truly does show the hardship that is created. Guildford road is too dangerous for Tom to walk from Carriage Hillas to Blue Sea for his school bus. When Tom is at his dad's house he has to be driven one street over to catch the bus.
