The Zaching phenomenon began when Ellicott City native Zach Lederer put both his arms up and flexed his biceps in a show of strength after he woke up from brain cancer surgery in January.

Two of his cousins saw the picture of him flexing on Facebook and wrote in the caption "The 'Tebow' is no longer in. Now it’s the Zach Lederer.”

From there the pose went viral with Howard County politicians flexing, police officers flexing, and a profile of Lederer featured on ESPN. Since then it has become a symbol of the strength shown by patients fighting cancer.

On Tuesday, it reached superstar levels with Justin Bieber striking the pose while signing autographs.

The caption on the Zaching Against Cancer Facebook page read, "Today, I was biking 86 miles from Milwaukee, WI to Madison, WI in 91 degree weather with 20 mph headwinds. By the last 10 miles, all I wanted to was give up. Then I check my phone and here's what I found that pushed me forward! Justin Bieber Zaching!-Raymond"
