UPDATE: Missing Columbia Woman Found Dead

Carol Choe was found dead in a Columbia hotel.

Update - Oct. 13 - 10:30 a.m.

Carol Choe was reportedly found deceased in a Columbia hotel Friday morning, according to police.

Police reported Friday night that evidence indicates her death was a suicide and no additional information will be released.

Original Story - Oct. 12

A Columbia woman has been missing since Oct. 1 and neither police nor family have heard from her.

Carol Choe, 30, was last seen at her residence in Columbia at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, according to her sister, Carrie Choe Fanola.

Choe's friend, Jessica Markham, said Choe's phone has not made any outgoing calls since her disappearence, nor has Choe checked her email or Facebook.

Fanola wrote in an email that Choe was being treated for depression and had never done anything like this before.

"Her family is really worried about her," wrote Fanola.

Howard County Police are currently investigating Choe's disappearance, but there are no signs of foul play, according to Sherry Llewellyn, a police spokesperson. Llewellyn said detectives have checked area hospitals, morgues, counseling centers, social media and interviewed friends, but haven't been able to locate her.

Choe reportedly told a family member she was going away for a few days, but didn't say where, according to police.

A friend posted on Choe's Facebook page on Sept. 24 saying, "Thinking about you today and just wanted to say, 'HI'. Hope you are doing well."

A response by someone identified as Choe on Sept. 25 said: "Thank you. Not doing too well so your words of comfort are well needed."

It was the last message posted by her name on her page before her disappearance.

Fanola said Choe is 4-feet-11 inches, about 90 pounds and may be driving her blue 2008 4-door Honda Civic with Maryland tags - 9DTR73. Choe's Facebook page lists her hometown as Bel Air.

Friends have set up a Facebook page and a website to aid in the search efforts.

Police are asking anyone with information about Choe's whereabouts to contact them at 410-313-2200.

Although suicide is never the answer, think about the depths of despair one must feel when the take their own lives. This was her choice, and nothing anyone could say or do would have changed her mind. Truly sad. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family.
