HCC Men's Soccer Prepares For Nationals
Team heads to upstate New York after winning regional crown against Montgomery-Rockville
The men's soccer team at Howard Community College in Columbia is headed to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) tournament (Final Eight) this week.
The Dragons, now 18-6 overall, beat Montgomery-Rockville 1-0 Oct. 30 for the Region XX title and the District F championship.
HCC will play Anoka-Ramsey Community College of Minnesota on Thursday at 11 a.m. in New York. The title game is set for Sunday at noon.
HCC is led by two of the top scorers at the Division III level in the junior college ranks. Sophomore forward David Neuberth has 97 points this year and Blaise Sindjui, a graduate of Hammond High School in Columbia, has 81.
The head coach for HCC is Stefan Draganov.
The HCC roster includes several players from Columbia schools, including Oakland Mills High School products Justin DeMinnis and Anthony Rice.
Wilde Lake High School grads on the roster include Saleh Hady, John Palastis and David Perez.
Daniel Saco and Sindjui of Hammond High are also on the HCC roster. The Dragons were 17-2-3 overall last season.
