Oakland Mills High School Students Arrested for Attempted Murder of Cab Driver

The arrests stem from a March 1 incident in which the cab driver was choked and threatened with a handgun, police said.

Update 4:00 p.m. - This article has been updated to include release information.

Four Oakland Mills High School students have been arrested and three are charged with attempted murder after police said they choked a cab driver with a karate belt and threatened him with a handgun.

Police said Khalid Khahiem Woods, 19; Johnam Perez-Rivera, 16; Woody Rousseau, 17; and Chellby Ofosusafori, 17, called a Columbia Flyer taxi. When the driver picked them up on Sweet Fern in Columbia, they attempted to rob him, according to police.

The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. on March 1, said police.

Police said Perez-Rivera was sitting behind the cab driver when he pulled a karate belt around the driver's neck. Then, police said, Woods pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill the driver.

The cab driver sped the cab up and struck a tree, setting off the airbags, which gave him enough time to escape, said police.

From there the driver, who was not seriously injured, ran to a nearby house and called 911, according to police.

Cell phone records and evidence found in the cab led police to arrest the four high school students. All four were picked up last week, according to police.

Woods was arrested at his home and the other three were arrested at Oakland Mills High without incident, said police.

All four men were charged as adults.

Woods, Perez-Rivera and Rousseau were charged with second-degree attempted murder, conspiracy, armed robbery, robbery and assault. They are being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $200,000 bond for Rousseau; $250,000 bond for Perez-Rivera; and $350,000 bond for Woods.

Ofosusafori was charged with conspiracy, armed robbery and robbery. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Update - Rousseau was released on bail on March 18, according to Howard County court records.

Don't worry....after seeing that meth dealers and manufacturer's get only 8 months for cooking in a hotel where many lives were put at risk, these guys will only get a year tops. And, all but 2 days will be suspended because they are teens and we don't want to damage them by placing them in jail.

That was very rude. There alot of kids in Columbia (who not from Baltimore) who actually killed people in Columbia. So before you make rude comments like that check your facts. And by the way no im not from Baltimore i was born & Raised in Howard County!

yea, your liberal colored glasses really don't allow you to see truths. Some communities are filled with section 8 and rouse's doctrine was to pay inner city people to move here and then made sure they were in subsidized housing. That's a fact! They are either from baltimore or "immigrant". It is the truth. Also factual is the color of most criminals in columbia and also baltimore. Now I personally don't believe its because of their color and more about what liberal socialists like yourself have done to their communities and the social experiments that destroyed a community that was-in the past- not any different than white communities! These are facts. Instead of trying to deny them or blame others....except them and look for real solutions to real problems.

Ahh I bet their parents are so proud! I am glad bail was set so high. Please let's set an example for kids who are bored on Friday nights. Stick to playing your XBOX, dummies.
