Footprints in Snow Lead to Arrest of Alleged Laurel Burglar
Alleged burglar confronted before breaking into one home, caught after breaking into another.
A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly trying to break into one house in Laurel and then successfully breaking into another, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Brenden Kristopher Baker, 20, of 8167 Edgerock Way in Laurel, has been charged with multiple counts of first-degree burglary, attempted burglary, attempted theft and destruction of property.
Police were called at about 1:28 p.m. to the 3000 block of Shoreline Boulevard, where a man told officers he had just seen a person dressed in camouflage walk around a neighbor's house and onto a rear deck.
The witness told officers he'd shouted at the person, who then ran into the woods.
Police followed footprints in the snow, which led them to a home on the 3000 block of Lost Creek Boulevard. There, they saw an open window and a screen on the ground.
Baker had allegedly closed the window from inside and subsequently ignored officers' commands, police said. Police then surrounded the home, went inside and found Baker hiding in the basement.
Nobody was home at the time, police said.
