Events Pack Columbia Weekend Schedule
This weekend's events schedule is aggregated from local Howard County bloggers.
There is no excuse not to get out and enjoy yourself in Columbia this weekend. The event list is jam-packed.
“While world leaders encamp at Camp David in Frederick County this weekend and world class thoroughbreds compete at Pimlico in Baltimore, in HoCo we’ll just be doing a whole lot of eating and drinking,” wrote Lane.
On tap are Wine in the Woods, which showcases Maryland wineries under the large trees at Symphony Woods on Saturday and Sunday and the 2nd Annual Clyde’s Craft Beer Festival at the Town Center lakefront from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
“It’s the perfect time to give our transit system a whirl,” wrote Sarah. “You don’t have to stick to a strict timeframe. You don’t have to fight over who will drive.”
In the comments section of Lane’s article, a reader named HoCo Rising gave a shout-out to the Festival of the Arts Gala at Howard Community College on Saturday evening.
The event will be held at the Horowitz Center and will feature The Second City Laugh Out Loud Tour. Second City, a sketch comedy group, helped launch the careers of Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrell and many others. Tickets are $150 each.
Another Tales of Two Cities reader named LeaseWright said not to forget the 2,500 competitors in the Columbia Triathlon on Sunday morning at Centennial Park.
The 29th annual Columbia Triathlon will feature 40 professional triathletes and more than 2,400 endurance athletes competing for a $30,000 purse, according to a press release about the event. The race begins at 6:40 a.m. and the top finishers are scheduled to cross the finish line around 9:20 a.m.
The weather this weekend is predicted to be in the upper 70s and partly cloudy on both Saturday and Sunday, according to Weather.com. So, where will you be enjoying your weekend?
