Burtonsville Man Charged In White Oak Sears Break-In

Police say Daniel Grant is also a suspect in a burglary of a Sears in Columbia.

A Burtonsville man was charged with second-degree burglary in connection with a Monday morning. 

Montgomery County Police said Daniel Grant, 29, of Burtonsville, posed as a customer and entered Sears before closing on Sunday, Dec. 4. Hiding from employees, he stayed in the store overnight, broke into cash registers and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

Sears’ alarm was activated around 12:34 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, and officers from the Third District responded to the store. Around 12:30 p.m. that day, police took Grant into custody. Today Grant was charged with second-degree burglary and theft under $1,000. His bond was set at $100,000 and he remains in custody, according to a release from the department.

Police also say Grant is a suspect in a Nov. 23 burglary of Sears in Lakefront Mall in Columbia. Howard County Police will pursue that charge.
