Power of the Purse Raise Funds for Women's Giving Circle

Caroline Sherman, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Women’s Giving Circle, pondered a purchase at the Power of the Purse silent auction and sale fundraiser for The Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County. The event, sponsored by Her Mind magazine, generated almost $5,000.  It was held at Fretz Kitchen Showroom.

The Women’s Giving Circle is a community of women philanthropists addressing the needs of women and girls in Howard County. Among its activities, WGC has founded a summer residential camp for middle school girls and established a scholarship fund at Howard Community College for women who are seeking training to improve their employment options. It provides emergency funding to local organizations serving women in need, among other grants.

WGC was founded in 2002 and has over 1,000 donors, who have contributed and pledged over $1 million to its donor advised fund with The Columbia Foundation, Howard County’s community foundation.  For information, visit www.womensgivingcircle.org.
