The goal of KidsPeace’s foster care program is always to reunite children with their families. But for various reasons, that is not always attainable, which is why KidsPeace also facilitates adoptions.

Now, our programs in Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia are moving toward being poised to place even more children in forever homes.

Virginia Foster Care and Community Programs had its first adoptive placement in our Richmond, Va., office in October. We will continue to provide services for that boy until his adoption is finalized in the next six months. In Washington, we have submitted a proposal to the Child and Family Services Agency to facilitate adoptions for children in their custody who reside in Northern Virginia.

KidsPeace received its Maryland adoption license in the spring and passed our first licensing visit from the state’s Department of Human Resources on Nov. 29. We have two adoptive families who have been selected to take in out-of-state children.
