Horizon Foundation Announces Grant Program
President & CEO Nicolette Highsmith Vernick has announced The Horizon Foundation is seeking letters of intent from non-profit and public entities for grants of $10,000-$49,999 to fund projects in Howard County.
In keeping with its strategic plan, Horizon’s grantmaking focuses on (a) reducing consumption of sugar sweetened beverages by children and their families and other positive lifestyle changes; (b) expanding access to affordable health insurance in light of the Affordable Care Act; and (c) increasing access to a broad array of health care services for those who face disproportionate barriers to care. In addition, grant requests for seed funding for innovative projects designed to improve the health and wellness of those living and working in the county will be considered.
The Foundation intends to fund a total of $200,000 in grants, with individual awards averaging $35,000.
All letters of intent must be submitted online at www.thehorizonfoundation.org by August 3. Qualified applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal on August 13, and proposals will be due September 14. Award notification is set for October 29, 2012.
