HCC Soccer Coach Stefan Draganov Named “Coach of the Year”

Stefan Draganov, head coach of the Howard Community College (HCC) men’s soccer team, has been named “Coach of the Year” for the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (JUCO); National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), District F; and National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Region East.
Draganov led the Dragons to an 11-0-1 regular season record en route to a Maryland JUCO conference title, NJCAA Region XX championship, and the college’s first-ever appearance in the NJCAA championships. The Dragons finished the season with an overall record of 17-2-3.
“I am very proud of the efforts of coach Draganov and his coaching staff, as well as the young men who represented HCC this season,” says Diane Schumacher, HCC’s athletic director. “They displayed great competitive spirit all year and have set the bar high for future seasons.”
A former professional soccer player and coach of high level soccer in Bulgaria, Hong Kong, and Portugal, Draganov has been coaching at HCC since 2004. In addition to his role at the college, he serves as the director of coaching for the Thunder Soccer Club and runs the successful Draganov School of Soccer.
