GRACE ESTABLISHES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Columbia, Maryland  – June 13, 2011 – W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA) has created a scholarship program to support students pursuing science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) majors at Howard Community College (HCC) in Maryland during the 2011-2012 academic year.

There are seven $1,000 scholarships available to cover tuition expenses. Recipients must have a grade point average (or equivalent) of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0. Once this academic eligibility requirement is met, each applicant’s participation in school and community activities, work experience and recommendation (by an adult appraiser) will be considered. Students can plan to attend classes at HCC’s main campus in Columbia, its Ecker Business Training Center, also in Columbia, or the Laurel College Center.

Interested students should contact the college’s Financial Aid Services Department at 443.518.1260 or finaid@howardcc.edu or visit the Howard Community College website at: www.howardcc.edu (click on the Tuition & Fees > Scholarships section).

In conjunction with the scholarships, Grace has donated an additional $3,000 to HCC to support funding of student engineering club activities and STEM projects. The collective donations have been made through the Grace Foundation, the company’s philanthropic affiliate.

“This outreach is part of our ongoing commitment to support the next generation of engineers, chemists, researchers and technicians,” remarked William Corcoran, Grace’s Vice President of Public and Regulatory Affairs. “As a company and as a member of the Maryland community, we need students to have access to the highest caliber education in order for us all to continue to be successful.”
