Atholton Fills Empty Bowls for Grassroots
The National Art Honor Society at Atholton High School hosted its annual “Empty Bowls” dinner benefit for Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center recently, attracting a crowd of students, teachers, friends and neighbors.
Attendees received an “empty bowl” created by Atholton High students and teachers and enjoyed a soup supper prepared by teachers and parents. All of the proceeds from the went to Grassroots, Howard County’s only 24-hour crisis center and homeless shelter.
Serving soup were (from l.) Dian Arumnightyas, Carly Rosenthal, Benjamin Park, Emily Crockett and Elizabeth Jaramillo.
Among those enjoying the festivities were Chris Warthen and his son, Max.
Admiring the bowls were Joey Haavik, Kathleen Hupfeld Brunette and Alexis Pappadaes.
The “empty bowls” came in every design and color.
